Protest letter written by devout Hindu

Hi,

I am very upset to see that you were selling pairs of socks with pictures of Goddess Lakshmi printed on them.

http://www.tonsofsocks.com/gooffo.html

This is nothing but the grave insult of our beloved Hindu Deity Shree Lakshmi. Millions of Hindus revere Goddess Lakshmi for good health, wisdom and prosperity with all devotion. We always place her on altar and offer our prayers with a surrendering attitude, and we never keep her near our feet.

In Hinduism (Sanatan Dharma) God and Goddesses pictures or symbols are considered very sacred and should follow certain norms, some of them are below

  • Should maintain Sanctity (Wearing socks you are exposing her to all kind of Environment even to restrooms)
  • Should not be ridiculed (Showing her on our feet by wearing these socks )
  • Should not be abused (These socks in process of washing are twisted, tumbled, dried with hot air)

If anything considered as sacred treated in above manner is called denigration of Dharma (Hinduism). No one will benefit from this and at same time it is sinful act. I sincerely request you to remove them from the website and send apologies for hurting our religious sentiments.

Thanks,

Srinivas Shakelly
